For Windows 10/8/7

  1. Press the Windows key + R simultaneously from your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type services.msc inside that box and hit Enter or click OK.
  3. In the list of services, look for Remote Desktop Services, right-click on it, and select Properties.
  4. Under the General tab, look for Startup type and set the type to Automatic.
  5. Click Apply and then OK to save the changes.
  6. Restart your computer and try to run Avast once again to check if it works.

For Windows XP/Vista

  1. Press the Windows key + R simultaneously from your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
  2. In the list of services, locate Terminal Server. It may also be named as Services Terminal Server. Right-click on it, and select Properties.
  3. Under the General tab, set the Startup type to Automatic. Click Apply.
  4. Next, in the service list, look for Background Intelligent Transfer Services. Right-click on it, and select Properties.
  5. Under the General tab, look for Startup type, and set it to Automatic.
  6. Click Apply and then OK to save the changes.
  7. Restart your computer.
